The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram Where the Beatles Stayed in 1968

About Beatles Ashram (Maharishi Ashram)

The Beatles Ashram (officially Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram, also called Chaurasi Kutia) is a famous abandoned ashram in Rishikesh where The Beatles — John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr — stayed in February 1968 to study Transcendental Meditation under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

During their 2-month stay, the Beatles composed 48 songs, many of which appeared on the White Album. The ashram now lies in a picturesque state of romantic decay within the Rajaji National Park forest, covered in murals, graffiti art and wall paintings by visitors from around the world.
