A 725-Metre Suspension Bridge Over Tehri Lake Connecting Two Hill Districts
The Dobra Chanthi Bridge is a landmark infrastructure project — India's longest motorable suspension bridge at 725 metres, spanning the Tehri Lake between Dobra (Tehri Garhwal district) and Chanthi (Pratapnagar). Completed in 2020, the bridge has become a major tourist attraction for its dramatic views of the Tehri Lake and surrounding Himalayan ranges.
The bridge was built to provide direct connectivity to hundreds of villages in the Pratapnagar region that were previously only accessible by boat or extremely long road detours after the old Tehri town was submerged. Walking or driving across the bridge with the vast blue expanse of Tehri Lake 100 metres below is a thrilling experience. The bridge has become a popular selfie and photography spot.
Beautiful year-round. October to March for clearest views. Early morning and sunset provide spectacular light on the lake. Avoid heavy monsoon for photography.
