One of the 52 Shakti Peethas with Panoramic Himalayan Sunrise Views
Kunjapuri Devi Temple is a hilltop Shakti temple situated at an altitude of 1676 metres, about 25 km from Rishikesh. It is one of the 52 Shakti Peethas and is dedicated to Goddess Kunj — a form of Goddess Parvati. The temple offers one of the most spectacular sunrise views of the Himalayas including Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath peaks.
The temple is accessible by a short but steep trek. Many trekkers start early morning (2–3 AM) from Rishikesh to reach the temple by sunrise. The view of golden sunlight illuminating the snow-capped Himalayan peaks from Kunjapuri is unforgettable.
Visit Kunjapuri for sunrise (October–March) for the best Himalayan views. Start from Rishikesh at 3 AM to catch the golden sunrise. Avoid during monsoon due to cloudy skies.
