"Pangong Tso was the highlight of our trip — the electric blue lake at 14,000 ft was absolutely breathtaking! TVI's guide was incredibly knowledgeable about Ladakh's Buddhist heritage."
"Camping at Pangong Tso under the Milky Way was unforgettable! TVI arranged the perfect tents, bonfire and local Ladakhi food. The sunrise over the blue lake next morning was breathtaking."
"Ladakh is paradise! Pangong Tso lakeside camping, Nubra Valley camel ride at sunset and Thiksey Monastery sunrise — our honeymoon in Ladakh was truly magical. TVI's service was exceptional."
Ladakh — the Land of High Passes — is a union territory perched in the western Himalayas at altitudes ranging from 2,750 m to over 7,500 m above sea level. Bordered by the Karakoram Range to the north, the Zanskar Range to the south and the Great Himalayas to the west, it is one of the least densely populated regions in India. Its two main districts — Leh and Kargil — are as different in culture and landscape as they are striking. Leh, the capital, was once a major halt on the ancient Silk Route and retains its character as a cosmopolitan mountain trading town ringed by Buddhist monasteries, royal palaces and whitewashed stupas.
The landscapes here are unlike anything else in the subcontinent. Barren mountains in shades of ochre, red and slate-grey rise behind green river valleys fed by glacial meltwater. Pangong Tso Lake — straddling the India-China border at 4,350 m — is famous for its startling blue-green colour that shifts with the light. Nubra Valley, accessed via Khardung La Pass (5,359 m), is a high-altitude desert where Bactrian camels roam sand dunes. Zanskar, a remote sub-region, is home to some of the most spectacular river gorges and ancient gompas in India.
Ladakh tour packages from Tour Venture India cover every dimension of this extraordinary destination — from Leh Palace heritage walks and Hemis Monastery festival tours to snow leopard safaris in Hemis National Park, Zanskar River rafting and romantic Pangong Tso honeymoon camps. Whether you are a first-time visitor acclimatising in Leh or a seasoned adventurer riding over Khardung La on a bike tour, TVI designs a trip itinerary tailored exactly to your interests, pace and budget.
The region became a union territory of India in 2019 and has since seen rapid growth in tourism infrastructure while retaining its raw, remote character. Inner Line Permits are required for most restricted zones — Pangong Tso, Nubra Valley, Tso Moriri — and TVI arranges all permits as part of every Ladakh tour package, so travellers can focus entirely on the experience.
The electric-blue lake at 4,350 m — stretching 134 km across India and China. Iconic lakeside camping under the Milky Way is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
30+ monasteries — Hemis, Thiksey, Alchi, Diskit, Likir — perched dramatically on cliffsides. The Hemis Tsechu Festival draws visitors from across the world every June-July.
Hemis National Park is one of the best places on Earth to spot the elusive snow leopard. Winter months (Jan-Feb) offer the highest sighting rates alongside ibex, wolf and bharal.
The Manali-Leh Highway is one of the world great motorcycle journeys. Khardung La Pass at 5,359 m is among the highest motorable roads — a bucket-list ride for every biker.
Zanskar River offers Grade III-IV rapids through dramatic gorges — among the best white-water rafting in India. The Chadar winter trek on the frozen river is equally legendary.
Nubra Valley — a high-altitude desert crossed by the ancient Silk Route — is home to double-humped Bactrian camels. A sunset camel ride on Hunder Sand Dunes is magical.
Minimal light pollution and clear skies at 14,000 ft make Ladakh one of India finest stargazing spots. The Milky Way over Pangong Tso or Nubra Valley stays with you forever.
Markha Valley Trek, Stok Kangri Summit, Sham Valley Trek and the iconic Chadar winter trek on the frozen Zanskar River — Ladakh is a trekker paradise like no other.
The main tourist season when all passes, lakes and remote valleys are accessible. Temperatures in Leh range 10–25°C — pleasant during the day, cold at night. The Hemis Monastery Festival (June-July) is the cultural highlight. Pangong Tso, Nubra Valley, Zanskar and Tso Moriri are all open. Ideal for heritage tours, bike tours, trekking and rafting.
Shoulder season with fewer crowds and golden autumn colours along the Indus Valley. Temperatures drop sharply — nights reach -10°C in Leh — but days are clear and brilliantly sunny. Most passes begin closing in November. The landscape takes on a stark, dramatic beauty as the tourist rush subsides and the region returns to its quiet self.
Extreme winter — temperatures drop to -20°C in Leh. However, this is the prime season for two exceptional experiences: the Chadar Trek on the frozen Zanskar River (January-February) and snow leopard safaris in Hemis National Park when snow drives leopards to lower elevations. A deeply immersive experience for adventurous travellers.
Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (IXL) in Leh has direct flights from Delhi (1.5 hrs), Mumbai, Chandigarh, Srinagar and Jammu. This is the fastest way — especially before the road season opens in May.
The 479 km Manali-Leh Highway (NH-3) is open June to October. It crosses five high passes — Rohtang, Baralacha La, Lachulung La, Nakee La and Tanglang La. The drive takes 2 days and is one of India most dramatic road journeys.
The 434 km Srinagar-Leh Highway (NH-1) is open April to November and passes through Zoji La Pass, Kargil and Lamayuru. It crosses the Zanskar Range with spectacular views. The drive takes 2 days via Kargil.
No direct rail to Leh. Nearest railheads are Jammu Tawi (700 km) and Chandigarh. From Jammu, fly to Leh or take the Srinagar highway. TVI arranges complete pickup, hotel and transfer packages from Jammu or Manali.
