Rajasthan — the Land of Kings — is India's largest state by area and one of the most spectacular travel destinations on the planet. Home to the mighty Thar Desert, the ancient Aravalli mountain range, and a thousand years of Rajput royal history, Rajasthan is a land of majestic forts, ornate palaces, vibrant bazaars and a living culture that has changed little since the days of the Maharajas. From the pink sandstone facades of Jaipur to the blue-washed lanes of Jodhpur, the golden dunes of Jaisalmer to the placid lakes of Udaipur, every city tells a different chapter of this extraordinary story.
Jaipur — the Pink City — is the capital and gateway of Rajasthan. Its UNESCO World Heritage landmarks include the Amber Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar (the royal observatory) and the iconic Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds). The walled city of Jaipur, built in 1727 by Maharaja Jai Singh II on a precise grid plan, was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2019. From Jaipur, Rajasthan tour packages spread out in every direction: east to Ranthambore tiger country, west to the desert cities of Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, south to the romantic lakes of Udaipur, and north to the holy town of Pushkar.
Udaipur — the City of Lakes — is arguably the most romantic city in India. Built around the shimmering Lake Pichola, with the white marble City Palace rising on its eastern shore and the iconic Lake Palace (now a luxury hotel) floating in its centre, Udaipur is the jewel of southern Rajasthan. Jodhpur — the Blue City — is dominated by the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest forts in India, rising 125 m above the blue-painted Brahmin quarter below. Jaisalmer — the Golden City — is a living fort city of honey-coloured sandstone rising from the Thar Desert, surrounded by the Sam Sand Dunes.
Rajasthan tour packages from Tour Venture India are designed to give every traveller the full experience — palace hotel stays, jeep safaris in Ranthambore, camel rides on the Sam Sand Dunes, shikara rides on Lake Pichola, Amber Fort visits, village safaris, Pushkar temple visits and the spectacular Pushkar Camel Fair in November. All packages come with a local expert guide, comfortable transport, hand-picked accommodation and meals as required.
The Amber Fort — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — is a breathtaking hilltop fortress of pink sandstone and white marble overlooking Maota Lake. The Hawa Mahal with its 953 latticed windows is Jaipur's most iconic facade and a masterpiece of Rajput architecture.
Ranthambore National Park is one of India's best places to spot Bengal tigers in the wild. With 70+ tigers across 10 zones, morning and afternoon jeep safaris offer excellent sightings against the dramatic backdrop of Ranthambore Fort — a UNESCO Heritage site inside the park.
The Sam Sand Dunes near Jaisalmer offer camel safaris, luxury tented camping, folk music performances and mesmerising sunsets over the Thar Desert — one of Rajasthan's most unforgettable experiences for travellers of all ages.
Lake Pichola boat ride with views of the floating Lake Palace and the white marble City Palace is a quintessential Rajasthan experience. Udaipur also has Fateh Sagar Lake, Saheliyon ki Bari garden and the Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace.
Pushkar is one of the five sacred dhams of Hinduism — home to the only Brahma Temple in the world and the holy Pushkar Lake with 52 ghats. The annual Pushkar Camel Fair (November) draws 200,000+ visitors for folk performances, hot-air balloons and cultural events.
Rajasthan is India's capital of heritage palace hotels — Umaid Bhawan Palace Jodhpur, Taj Lake Palace Udaipur, Samode Palace Jaipur and Sujan Sher Bagh Ranthambore. TVI partners with the finest heritage properties for an authentic royal experience.
Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur — one of India's largest forts — towers 125 m above the blue-painted old city. The fort museum houses royal palanquins, armour and miniature paintings, with panoramic Thar Desert views from the rooftop cafe.
The Dilwara Temples at Mount Abu are among the finest examples of Jain temple architecture in India — built between the 11th and 13th centuries in pure white marble with incredibly intricate carved ceilings and pillars that took 1,500 craftsmen 14 years to complete.
The best time for Rajasthan tourism — pleasant temperatures (15-28°C), ideal for fort exploration, Ranthambore tiger safaris and Jaisalmer desert camping. November brings the spectacular Pushkar Camel Fair — the world's largest camel fair with folk performances and hot-air balloons. December-January is the most comfortable time for all of Rajasthan.
March is still pleasant (20-35°C) and great for Jaipur and Udaipur. April-June is very hot (40-48°C) in Jaisalmer and Jodhpur but heritage palace hotels offer up to 50% off peak rates. Ranthambore closes in June. Early morning fort visits are still comfortable even in summer months.
Monsoon transforms the Aravalli hills — Udaipur, Mount Abu and Pushkar become lush and green. The Teej and Gangaur festivals in Jaipur are celebrated with colourful processions. Ranthambore closes for safaris but the fort is beautiful in rain. Temperatures drop to 25-35°C and hotel rates are at their lowest.
Jaipur International Airport (JAI) has flights from Delhi (45 min), Mumbai (1.5 hrs) and Bangalore. Udaipur (UDR), Jodhpur (JDH) and Jaisalmer (JSA) airports also connect to Delhi and Mumbai with daily flights.
Jaipur Shatabdi from Delhi takes 4.5 hrs. Udaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Jaisalmer have direct trains from Delhi and Mumbai. The Palace on Wheels luxury train covers Rajasthan's key cities in an 8-day royal journey.
Jaipur is 281 km from Delhi (5 hrs via NH-48 Expressway) — the most popular road trip from Delhi. TVI arranges comfortable cab and SUV transfers from Delhi, Agra (Golden Triangle) and between all Rajasthan cities.
RSRTC Volvo AC buses run from Delhi to Jaipur (5 hrs), Udaipur (12 hrs) and Jodhpur (9 hrs). Private luxury buses are also available. TVI recommends private cab transfers between cities for flexibility and comfort.

Drive to Jaisalmer (3 hrs). Jaisalmer Fort, Patwon ki Haveli, Gadisar Lake. Evening camel safari to Sam Sand Dunes, sunset in the dunes, folk music, bonfire dinner under stars at luxury tented camp.
