A Remote Alpine Lake Surrounded by Dense Rhododendron Forests, Off the Beaten Path
Bisurital (also called Bisuri Tal) is a small, beautiful high-altitude lake hidden in the dense rhododendron forests near Chopta in Rudraprayag district. It is one of the lesser-known lakes in the Chopta region, far less visited than Deoria Tal, making it a great off-beat destination for nature lovers and trekkers seeking solitude.
The lake is reached via a trail through thick forests of rhododendron, oak and deodar. In spring (March–May), the forests burst into bloom with red, pink and white rhododendron flowers, creating a magical landscape around the lake. The area is excellent for bird watching and wildlife spotting. The trek to Bisurital can be combined with the Chopta–Tungnath–Chandrashila trek for a complete experience.
March to May for rhododendron blooms. September to October for clear skies and quiet trails. Avoid monsoon when trails are slippery.
