Pristine Village Meadow at 1700m with Panoramic Himalayan Views, Apple Trees & Serene Oak Forest Walks
Khirsu is a picturesque and largely unspoilt village located about 19 km from Pauri town in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, sitting at an elevation of 1700m (5577 ft). This hidden gem is celebrated for its beautiful apple, pear, and peach orchards, dense oak and rhododendron forests, and sweeping panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks including Trishul, Nanda Devi, Kedarnath, and Badrinath ranges. The village meadow, a rolling expanse of green grass dotted with fruit trees, gives Khirsu the feel of a mountain paradise far removed from the crowded tourist circuit.
Khirsu is ideal for those seeking peace, fresh mountain air, and natural beauty without the commercial trappings. Nature walks through the oak forest, photography of the Himalayan vistas, and orchard visits in season (August–October) are the main activities. The GMVN (Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam) rest house at Khirsu offers basic but comfortable accommodation with garden views. The village has a handful of small guesthouses. Sunrise and sunset views from the Khirsu meadow are among the most spectacular in all of Garhwal. Khirsu is best paired with Pauri town and Kandoliya Temple for a complete Pauri Garhwal experience.
March to June for spring blooms and clear Himalayan views. September to November for orchard harvest season and crisp autumn weather. Winter (December–February) brings snowfall and a quiet, magical atmosphere.
