Powerful Shakti Peeth in Tehri Garhwal – Panoramic Himalayan Views, Ancient Goddess Temple & Spiritual Trek at 2277 Metres
Chandrabadni Temple is one of the most revered Shakti Peeths of Uttarakhand, perched at an altitude of 2,277 metres in the Tehri Garhwal district, approximately 32 km from Devprayag. Dedicated to Goddess Chandrabadni (a form of Goddess Sati / Parvati), the temple is believed to be the spot where the torso (dhad) of Goddess Sati fell when Lord Vishnu severed her body to end Lord Shiva's grief. This makes it one of the 52 Shakti Peeths spread across the Indian subcontinent, and it holds immense tantric and spiritual significance in Garhwali tradition.
The temple stands on a ridge offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges, including Kedarnath, Gangotri, and the Chaukhamba peaks on clear days. The path to the temple involves a short steep climb through oak and rhododendron forests, making it a spiritually rewarding trek. Navratri festivals are celebrated with exceptional devotion here, drawing large numbers of pilgrims from across Garhwal. The ancient stone temple has a simple but powerful sanctum, and the atmosphere at the hilltop is charged with divine energy and natural beauty.
