A Beautiful 6 km Trek to Panoramic Alpine Meadows with Panchachuli Views at 3500m
Khaliya Top is a spectacular alpine meadow at 3500 metres above sea level, situated about 6 km from Munsiyari town. It is one of the most popular short treks in the Kumaon Himalaya — the trail ascends through dense oak and rhododendron forests before opening into vast rolling meadows with breathtaking 360-degree views of the Panchachuli, Nanda Devi East, Rajrambha and other Himalayan peaks.
The trek to Khaliya Top takes about 3–4 hours one way and is considered moderate in difficulty, suitable for most reasonably fit adults. In winter (November to February), Khaliya Top is covered in snow and becomes popular for snowshoeing and snow trekking. The meadows are carpeted with alpine flowers in spring. Several camping spots exist near the top, making it an excellent overnight trek option.
April to June for alpine flowers and clear skies. October to November for crisp views. December to February for snow trekking.
