The route passes through a string of beautiful Kumaoni villages before reaching the glacier snout at Zero Point:
May to June and September to October are the best months for this glacier trek. September–October is preferred for clear mountain views, stable weather, and less trail congestion. The trail is snow-free and all campsites — Loharkhet, Dhakuri, Khati, Dwali, Phurkiya — are accessible. Avoid monsoon (July–August) due to slippery trails, leeches, and landslide risk on the Dhakuri pass section. The trek closes November–April due to heavy snowfall; the Dhakuri pass (2,680 m) typically becomes impassable after mid-November (Uttarakhand Forest Department). Based on Tour Venture India booking data, September–October accounts for over 60% of annual Pindari trek departures.
