Naukuchiatal is one of the best lakes in Uttarakhand for water sports and lake activities. Unlike the crowded Nainital lake, Naukuchiatal is larger (175 acres), quieter and offers a more relaxed experience. The lake's nine corners (nau = nine, kuchi = corners, tal = lake) make it uniquely shaped and ideal for various boating and water activities.
The main water activities available at Naukuchiatal include parasailing (one of the few lakes in Kumaon where this is offered), rowing boats, paddle boats, kayaking and angling (fishing). The lake is stocked with mahseer and trout, making it popular with fishing enthusiasts. Several operators at the main ghat offer activity packages combining boating with lakeside picnics. The surrounding forest and mountain backdrop make every activity here scenically rewarding.
October to June for all water activities. July–August (monsoon) — boating may be restricted during heavy rains. March to May is the most popular season for parasailing and water sports.
