A Peaceful Goddess Temple on the Banks of Sattal Lake
Panna Devi Temple is a small yet deeply revered shrine located on the banks of one of the seven Sattal lakes. Dedicated to Goddess Panna Devi — a local form of Shakti — the temple is surrounded by dense oak and rhododendron forests, making it one of the most peaceful places of worship in the Kumaon region.
The temple draws both pilgrims and nature lovers. The walk to the temple from Sattal village passes through fragrant forest paths and offers views of the shimmering blue lake. Morning prayers here, with birdsong as the backdrop and mist over the water, are a truly spiritual experience. Local devotees offer flowers, coconuts and incense to the goddess.
Best visited in early morning (6–8 AM) when morning aarti is performed and the lake is mirror-still. October to March offers the most pleasant weather. Navratri (March–April and September–October) sees special prayers.
