Chardham Yatra from Bihar — Why Choose Tour Venture India?

How Bihar Pilgrims Reach Haridwar

Train is by far the most practical way to reach Haridwar from Bihar. Most Bihar pilgrims take an overnight train from Patna, Gaya, or Muzaffarpur — arriving at Haridwar Junction early morning after 16–18 hours. We recommend booking a 2-tier or 3-tier AC sleeper for a comfortable overnight journey. We receive you at Haridwar station, check you into the hotel, and give you time to rest before the Yatra begins. Families with elderly members should plan to arrive a day early so there is no rushing on Day 1.

Why Bihar Groups Trust Tour Venture India

Bihar families typically travel in larger groups — often 10 to 20 people including parents, grandparents, and extended family. Managing a mixed-age group through 10 days in the Himalayas requires careful planning: vehicle size, hotel room allocation, pony booking at Yamunotri, helicopter at Kedarnath for elderly members, medical kit, and daily schedules that do not exhaust anyone. We have managed this kind of trip hundreds of times since 2013. You give us your group details, we build the plan — you focus on the pilgrimage.

Expert Note: Chardham Yatra registration is mandatory since 2024. Pilgrims must register at registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in (official Uttarakhand Govt portal) before visiting each dham. Tour Venture India assists all our pilgrims with free registration as part of every package we offer. For official tourism info visit uttarakhandtourism.gov.in.

Why Choose Us

Best Char Dham Tour Operators for Bihar Pilgrims

Haridwar-Based, Registered & Trusted Since 2013 — 4.9 ★ Google Rating, 5,000+ Pilgrims

Bihar pilgrims sometimes book through agents in Patna who then pass the work to someone in Haridwar. That creates gaps in accountability — if something goes wrong on the route, the Patna agent cannot help you, and the Haridwar contact does not feel fully responsible. We remove that gap. You book directly with us in Haridwar, you get our direct number, and our driver and vehicle meet you at the station. No subcontracting, no commission layers. If there is a problem at any point — weather, road, health — you call us and we solve it on the ground.

How to Reach Haridwar from Bihar for Chardham Yatra

By Train, Bus / Car, or Air — Bihar to Haridwar Routes

Train is the most popular and practical option for Bihar pilgrims. Here are the three routes to Haridwar from Bihar:

By Train
Several overnight trains connect Patna Junction, Gaya, and Muzaffarpur to Haridwar — journey is 16–18 hours. Book 2AC or 3AC for a comfortable night's travel. The train arrives at Haridwar Junction where we receive you in the morning.
Free Haridwar station pickup in all packages
By Bus / Car
Connecting buses via Lucknow or Varanasi to Haridwar are available but add travel time. For most Bihar families, the direct overnight train is more comfortable and reliable. Self-drive from Bihar is also possible but rarely chosen given the 1,000+ km distance.
Haridwar bus stand pickup available
By Air
Fly from Jay Prakash Narayan Airport, Patna to Delhi (1.5 hrs), then take Shatabdi Express to Haridwar (4.5 hrs). Or fly Patna to Dehradun directly — Jolly Grant Airport is just 35 km from Haridwar. This is the fastest option for time-constrained pilgrims.
Delhi/Dehradun airport pickup arranged
Tip for Bihar pilgrims: Your overnight train arrives at Haridwar in the morning — usually between 5 AM and 8 AM. We recommend spending that full first day resting near Har Ki Pauri, eating light, and attending the Ganga Aarti in the evening. Bihar families often feel a deep connection to this moment — the Ganga flowing from the same mountains you are about to enter. We book the hotel within walking distance of the ghat. The Yatra circuit starts the next morning, fresh and prepared.

What to Carry for the Char Dham Pilgrimage

Packing List: Documents, Clothing, Medical Kit & Essentials

Pack light — mountain roads require minimal luggage. Here is a practical packing list based on our 13 years of experience guiding pilgrims on the Char Dham sacred yatra:

Essential Documents
  • Aadhaar Card / Voter ID (original + 2 copies)
  • Chardham Yatra Registration printout
  • Health / Medical certificate (if 60+)
  • Emergency contact card (carry in pocket)
  • Travel insurance documents
Clothing
  • Warm woollen jacket / fleece (Kedarnath gets very cold)
  • Waterproof raincoat / poncho
  • Comfortable trekking shoes (non-slip sole)
  • Light cotton clothes for lower altitude stops
  • Warm socks, gloves, woollen cap
Medical Kit
  • Diamox (altitude sickness tablet — consult doctor)
  • Disprin / paracetamol for headache
  • ORS sachets for dehydration
  • Personal prescription medicines (10-day supply)
  • Knee support bandage (for Kedarnath trek)
Other Essentials
  • Walking stick / trekking pole
  • Water bottle (1 litre — refill at springs)
  • Sunscreen SPF 50+ and sunglasses
  • Energy bars / dry fruits for trek
  • Torch / headlamp with extra batteries
Physical Fitness: Chardham Yatra involves high altitude (up to 3,583 m at Kedarnath). Pilgrims with heart disease, BP, diabetes, or respiratory issues should consult a doctor before booking. The Kedarnath trek is 16 km (round trip 32 km) — we recommend pony or helicopter for senior citizens and those with joint problems.
Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions — Chardham Yatra from Bihar

Cost, Duration, Best Time, Travel from Bihar & More

What is the total cost of Chardham Yatra from Bihar?
The Haridwar-to-Haridwar package (10 Days 9 Nights) starts from ₹25,000 per person for a group of 6–7 in Innova Crysta. This includes AC taxi, hotel, breakfast and dinner, toll, parking, and Yatra registration help. Train from Patna to Haridwar (2AC) costs approximately ₹1,200–₹1,800 extra per person. For large Bihar family groups of 10–20 people, we offer Tempo Traveller packages that significantly reduce the per-person cost. Call +91-8057146497 for a group quote.
How many total days should Bihar pilgrims plan for Chardham?
The circuit itself is 10 Days 9 Nights from Haridwar. Add 1 night for the overnight train from Patna/Gaya to Haridwar, and another 1 night for the return journey. Total trip from Bihar and back: approximately 12–14 days. We recommend the 12-day circuit version for Bihar groups — it builds in extra rest time at Kedarnath and Badrinath, which are the most demanding sections.
Which trains go from Patna/Gaya to Haridwar for Chardham Yatra?
Several trains run from Patna Junction and Gaya to Haridwar — many pass through Lucknow or Delhi. The journey is 16–18 hours; book 2AC or 3AC for overnight comfort. From Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur, change at Patna for Haridwar-bound trains. We advise booking train tickets 60–90 days in advance, especially for May–June travel when seats fill fast. We receive you at Haridwar Junction — just WhatsApp your arrival time.
Can we book Kedarnath helicopter for our Bihar family group?
Yes. Helicopter services for Kedarnath run from Phata, Sirsi, Guptkashi, and Agastyamuni. Official booking is at heliservices.uk.gov.in. Slots open early and fill within hours — we strongly recommend booking 2–3 months ahead. We assist all Bihar pilgrims with helicopter booking at no service fee. One-way cost: approximately ₹4,000–₹8,000 per person. For large family groups, we coordinate multiple seats across available slots.
What vehicle is best for a large Bihar family group?
For Bihar families of 10–14 people, the Tempo Traveller is the best choice — it keeps the group together, lowers per-person cost, and is comfortable on mountain roads. For groups of 6–7, the Innova Crysta is ideal. We can also run two vehicles for very large groups, which gives flexibility on the circuit and allows members to travel at their own pace on long stretches.
What is the best time to go for Chardham Yatra from Bihar?
May and early June are the most popular months — portals open around 29 April and crowds are manageable in the first two weeks of May. September–October is excellent: roads are clear after monsoon, weather is pleasant, and hotels have better availability. Avoid July–August completely — Bihar already has monsoon, and Uttarakhand mountain roads become very dangerous with landslides during this period.
Can elderly people from Bihar do Chardham Yatra safely?
Yes — with proper planning. We arrange helicopter for Kedarnath (no 16 km trek needed), pony or palki at Yamunotri, hotels closest to temple gates, and a 12-day itinerary that does not rush the high-altitude sections. Important: pilgrims above 60, or anyone with BP, heart, or diabetes conditions, must get a medical fitness certificate from their doctor in Bihar before travelling. This certificate is checked at medical posts on the route — not having it can prevent entry to restricted zones.
