Panch Badri is a group of five Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Badri Narayan) located in the Garhwal Himalayan region of Uttarakhand. Together these five shrines form one of the most revered Vaishnava pilgrimages in India. The yatra is recognised by Uttarakhand Tourism as a major Himalayan pilgrimage circuit.
Most of the Panch Badri temples are accessible by road and open year-round, making this yatra suitable for all age groups. Many pilgrims combine Panch Badri with the Char Dham Yatra from Haridwar since Badrinath is both the 1st Badri and one of the four Char Dhams.

Month-Wise Guide — When to Visit Each Badri Temple
Best time for Panch Badri Yatra is May–June and September–November. Badrinath opens in May (exact date announced by temple committee) and closes in November. The other four temples — Yogadhyan Badri, Vridha Badri, Bhavishya Badri, and Adi Badri — are open throughout the year. Avoid July–August for Badrinath due to monsoon and landslide risk.
Best time. Badrinath newly opened, weather pleasant, rhododendrons in bloom. Less crowd than peak season. Ideal for senior pilgrims.
Avoid for Badrinath — heavy monsoon, landslides on mountain roads. The 4 other Badri temples are accessible but trek to Bhavishya Badri may be slippery.
Post-monsoon, clearest Himalayan views. Badrinath closes in October–November. September–October is ideal. The 4 other temples remain open through winter.

Day 1: Haridwar → Devprayag (210 km, ~6 hrs)
Depart Haridwar by road via Rishikesh. Stop at Devprayag Sangam — sacred confluence of Alaknanda & Bhagirathi rivers. Overnight Devprayag.
Day 2: Devprayag → Karnaprayag → Adi Badri (5th Badri)
Drive via Karnaprayag prayag darshan. Visit Adi Badri — 14-temple complex with stunning black stone Vishnu idol. Overnight near Adi Badri / Karnaprayag.
Day 3: Adi Badri → Vridha Badri → Joshimath (4th Badri)
Drive to Animath near Joshimath. Darshan at Vridha Badri — ancient form of Vishnu as old man. Continue to Joshimath for overnight stay.
Day 4: Joshimath → Bhavishya Badri → Joshimath (3rd Badri)
Drive to Subain village. Trek 5 km to Bhavishya Badri at 2,744 m — the future seat of Lord Vishnu. Return Joshimath. Overnight Joshimath.

Day 6: Govindghat → Badrinath (1st Badri)
Drive to Badrinath (3,133 m). Check in, freshen up. Attend evening aarti at Badrinath temple — one of the most spiritually powerful experiences of the yatra. Overnight Badrinath.
Day 7: Badrinath Full Darshan + Mana Village
Early morning abhishek puja at Badrinath. Visit Mana Village (last Indian village before Tibet border), Vyas Gufa, Ganesh Gufa, Bhim Pul, Saraswati river. Overnight Badrinath.
Day 8: Badrinath → Rudraprayag
Depart Badrinath after breakfast. Drive back via Joshimath, Chamoli, Nandprayag. Overnight Rudraprayag.
Day 9: Rudraprayag → Haridwar
Drive via Devprayag, Rishikesh to Haridwar. Evening Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri. Overnight Haridwar.
Day 10: Haridwar Departure
