The Saptrishi Ashram is a magnificent historic ashram on the banks of the Ganga (Sapt Sarovar), about 5 kilometers from Haridwar.

Seven Rishis The word "ashram" comes from the fact that seven sages, or rishis, used to meditate there. Hindu mythology says that the names of these seven sages are Kashyapa, Vashisht, Gautam, Jamadagi, Vishwamitra, Bhardwaja, and Atri.
