Seven Rishis The word "ashram" comes from the fact that seven sages, or rishis, used to meditate there. Hindu mythology says that the names of these seven sages are Kashyapa, Vashisht, Gautam, Jamadagi, Vishwamitra, Bhardwaja, and Atri.

So, the temple is where the seven rishis opted to meditate. Because of its religious importance, devotees hold this ashram in great regard.
