Bhimgoda Tank

Overview

People who are going on vacation to Haridwar need to plan ahead. There are so many mythological places to see right now that it's easy to miss a lot of them. Don't miss the Bhimgoda Tank when you're in Haridwar. The holy tank is named after Bhima, the second of the five Pandavas in the Mahabharata, a Hindu epic. The Bhimgoda Tanks are within a few minutes' walk from Har ki Pauri. There is also a dam near the tank that is worth seeing.

The story that goes along with this tank rapidly grabs everyone's attention. Hindu mythology says that the Bhimgoda tank was made when Bhima, the second of the Pandava brothers, pushed his knee on the ground. So, Bhimgoda is a mix of the Hindi terms for "knee" and "Bhim," the mythical hero in the Mahabharata.

The Ganges River flows into the Bhimgoda tank. As was said above, the dam beside the tank is also worth seeing. The dam is a great example of modern architecture.

The tank is also surrounded by beautifully arranged plants. The flowers around the tank smell good. Also, there are fountains that make the whole area look much better. The Bhimgoda Tank is a great place for both pilgrims and backpackers to spend time.
